What Are Puffy Nipples?
Puffy nipples is a subset of my male gynecomastia patients that are generally thin and complain of gynecomastia manifesting itself as visible protrusion typically located right under the nipple. It is not a different entity than gynecomastia but rather different manifestation.
What Causes Puffy Nipples?
The nipples and areola actually contain a subset of muscles that contract when cold or stimulated. When that muscle and skin are in the relaxed phase the heavy ball of tissue underneath the nipples ways the nipple down and causes an unnatural looking and expansion.

Treatment For Puffy Nipples:
Generally the treatment is to remove the gynecomastia tissue that weighs down on the nipple this also disturbs the muscle fibers and contract the nipple areola. The treatment is very similar to a typical gynecomastia surgery although the patients that fall under puffy nipples generally tend to be on the thinner side. The tissue also tends to be predominantly gland issue with their little fat.
